Have you ever caught yourself looking around and thinking, “Man, everyone else seems to be moving faster than me?” Maybe someone else’s business is growing quicker. Maybe they’re reaching goals you’ve been chasing for years. Maybe it feels like everyone else got a head start while you’re still trying to figure things out.
We’ve all been there.
The problem with that kind of thinking is that it can make you overlook something important: you’re still moving forward. And that’s what matters.
Stop Looking at Everyone Else’s Speedometer

If you want to lower your chances of getting discouraged, there’s one thing you absolutely need to stop doing: comparing your progress to someone else’s. You rarely know their whole story. You don’t know how long they’ve been working at it, what advantages they’ve had, or what struggles they’ve faced behind the scenes.
Life isn’t a race where everyone starts at the same line under the same conditions. Some people have a smooth road. Others are climbing uphill and carrying extra weight.
Your job isn’t to keep up with everyone else. Your job is to keep going.
A Little Progress Is Still Progress
Sometimes you’ll have moments where you get to make huge strides. Other times, life gets more demanding. Kids need more attention. Unexpected delays show up. Fighting for your vision becomes a little harder.
During those times, it’s easy to convince yourself that you’re falling behind or feel like you’re stuck because you’re only making small amounts of progress.
Don’t buy into that thinking.
Reading ten pages is better than reading none. Saving twenty dollars is better than saving nothing. Spending fifteen minutes working toward a goal is still fifteen minutes closer than you were yesterday. The size of the step matters far less than your willingness to keep taking it.
Don’t Let a Bad Day Be the End of Your Pursuit
One missed workout doesn’t erase your progress. A rough week doesn’t ruin your goals. And a setback doesn’t mean you have to start over. Too many people quit because they want to do everything perfectly. That’s an unrealistic expectation to have for yourself and/or others.
The people who accomplish meaningful things are the ones who keep getting back up no matter how many times they stumble.
Keep the Wheels Turning

There will be days when you feel unstoppable and days when you’re just barely hanging on. Both are an important part of the journey. When things are going well, keep moving. When things get tough, keep moving. When progress feels slow, keep moving.
Just keep the wheels turning. Because forward is forward, and if you stay in motion long enough, you’ll be amazed by how far you go.
