Get Going, Even When It’s Hard

Let’s get one thing out of the way right from the start: Sometimes life is just hard.

Not “I need a better morning routine” hard. Not “I just need to think more positively” hard. I’m talking about the kind of hard that knocks the wind out of you. The kind that keeps you awake at night asking questions nobody seems to have answers for. The kind that makes you wonder, “Why is this happening?” or “Why now?”

I’ve walked through seasons like that myself, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: you don’t have to pretend everything is okay when it isn’t. You don’t have to fake a smile or convince everyone you’ve got it all together. Hard things are hard. Admitting that doesn’t make you weak. It makes you honest.

Give Yourself Permission to Feel It

One of the biggest mistakes people make is thinking they have to “be strong” by ignoring what they’re feeling.

You don’t.

Feel the disappointment. Feel the frustration. Cry if you need to. Talk to someone you trust. Take a deep breath. Those emotions are one of the many great things that make you human.

Just don’t unpack your bags and decide to live there. Feel it…then keep moving.

Keep Taking the Next Step

When you’re walking through one of life’s toughest moments, thinking ten miles down the road feels overwhelming. Don’t worry about ten miles.

Just focus on the next step.

Some days that next step is going to feel strong and confident. Other days it’s going to feel like you’re dragging your feet. There may even be days when your biggest victory is simply getting out of bed and refusing to quit.

That still counts.

Progress isn’t always fast, and it isn’t always pretty. But every step forward is proof that your story is still being written.

Trust That the Light is Still There

A long dark tunnel with a light at the end of it.

When you’re in a dark tunnel, it’s easy to convince yourself the darkness is all there is. That’s what adversity does. It narrows your perspective and makes today feel like forever.

But today isn’t forever.

Even if you can’t see the light yet, don’t stop walking. Keep believing. Continue putting one foot in front of the other. Eventually, what feels impossible today becomes something you look back on with gratitude because of how much it strengthened you.

This Isn’t the End

One difficult chapter doesn’t get to decide how your story ends.

Hold on. Stay rooted. Let people help you when you need it. Believe that better days are ahead, even if you can’t see them yet.

Life will test you from time to time. It will ask more of you than you ever wanted to give. Keep showing up and pressing onward anyway. Forward is forward, no matter how small your steps in that direction are.

This isn’t the end of your story.

It’s just the page you’re on right now.

Forward Is Forward

Forward Is Forward

Have you ever caught yourself looking around and thinking, "Man, everyone else seems to be moving faster than me?" Maybe someone else's business is growing quicker. Maybe they're reaching goals you've been chasing for years. Maybe...
